In 2023 Worthing District Council invited Ustigate to design and install an LED lighting upgrade

Success:

Working with John Pegg, Ustigate integrated a layout of misting jets and colour changing LED lights to sit amongst welsh slate boulders. The striking result delivered a water feature for all year round enjoyment. Children can play in the feature on warm summer days and dodge the fine mist fully clothed when it is cooler! The misting system is timer controlled, and can also be activated by foot pads. The feature uses a low volume of water drawn from a mains supply and requires very little maintenance.

As well as trees, seating and lighting, the rejuvenated Splash Point includes more than 40 welsh slate boulders, several of which have been inscribed and sandblasted with intricate designs by craft:pegg and local artists. Etchings include a portrait of one-time Worthing resident Oscar Wilde and the Knucker dragon – a mythical creature from West Sussex. A four-tonne, sawn-face boulder made from Welsh Slate has also been installed and engraved to commemorate the lifeboat rescues that have been key to Worthing’s history.

In 2023 Ustigate’s design team set to work straight away, designing and installing a new LED lighting system to sit between the welsh slate boulders and misting water jets at Worthing Splash Point. The water feature has been in operation for thirteen years and still performs as good as the day it was installed. The new LED lighting system is multi-coloured and guaranteed to please for many years to come.
